A city worker in Massachusetts knows firsthand some of the repercussions that can follow being accused of drug charges. Not only does the man face the harsh reality of possible jail time, he has now been taken off of his employer’s payroll, even before being proven guilty. His charges go back since he was accused in August, but it appears that the drug charges have haunted him daily since the incident.
The 50-year-old man was initially arrested for the drug charges of possession of heroine and possible intent to distribute, in addition to conspiracy to allegedly violate laws of the drugs. The man was also charged with the possession of cocaine, all of which can lead to serious prison time. The unfortunate events did not stop there for the man.
Following his initial arrest back in August, his employer allegedly put him on administrative leave. Although he was on leave, he was able to keep his likely much needed steady paycheck until he was indicted. His leave with pay would be short-lived, unfortunately. The city’s mayor allegedly made the harsh decision to take away the man’s pay.
Although the man is still technically employed through the Massachusetts city he worked for, he is not getting paid. Depending on how long the man’s trial will take, in addition to the findings, he may be without pay for a very long time. It is unknown if the man has a family, but if he does they will all likely suffer the reality of the man losing pay.
January will be man’s next possible opportunity to plead his case in a Massachusetts courtroom. It would be beneficial for him to become fully knowledgeable on all aspects of the laws surrounding the drug charges he has been accused of. Going into a courtroom with the knowledge of personal rights, regardless of the drug charges pressed on him can possibly help the man achieve a fair outcome.
