Man accused of assault and battery; stole a woman's purse

A man has recently been arrested stemming from an incident that allegedly happened at 10:30 a.m. in Brockton. Massachusetts police suspect that the 32-year-old man assaulted a 40-year-old woman and stole her purse. The man faces multiple charges that include assault and battery stemming from the purported attack.

According to the report, the police suspect that the man encountered the woman as she was attempting to exit her vehicle. He is then accused of grabbing the woman by the hair and threatening her. He supposedly had a knife and held it up to her as a part of the threat. Then, the man is believed to have put away the knife and pulled out a handgun.

He supposedly struck the woman with the handgun, stole her purse and fled. Police were called to the scene, and they were somehow able to track the suspect back to his residence in Brockton and arrest him. However, how police connected the man to the crime is not detailed within the report.

The Massachusetts man faces two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and threatening to commit a crime. In cases such as these, as well as all other criminal cases, sufficient evidence will have to be provided in court sufficiently documenting that this man actually committed the crimes he is accused of. The man's charges will have to be proved beyond a reasonable doubt with evidence that meets the exacting requirements of the criminal justice system in order for the man to be convicted of any or all of the charges. If this situation does not occur, some or all of the man's charges could be reduced or dropped due to insufficient evidence.
